Situated 1431 m above the sea level & Surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests & tea plantations, Haputale  is  one of the most beautiful hill country cities in Sri Lanka. Haputale has a rich bio-diversity dense & allows a very beautiful view of the Southern Plains. The town is cooler than the surrounding areas &  is a best place to discover Sri Lankan Tea. Major attractions of Haputale are Liptons seat, Adisham Bungalow and the famous Dambatenna tea factory. Calm & wonderful hill country nature makes Haputale a best place for a relaxation.

Lipton's Seat, Haputale

The Lipton’s Seat lookout is one of Sri Lanka’s most impressive viewpoints. Sir Thomas Lipton who was the owner and the founder of many first tea plantations in the country used to relax  enjoy the spectacular views with a cup of tea. Situated 1970m above sea level, You can see across emerald hills and tea estates to no fewer than seven different provinces from here. Best time for the visit is in the early morning before 10AM.

Dambatenna tea factory

Dambatenna tea factory was built in 1890 by Sir Thomas Lipton. This colonial tea factory is a remarkable place in the history of Ceylon Tea. A tour to the Dambatenna tea factory will give you knowledge about the process of producing tea.

Adisham Bungalow

A short drive from Haputale town will lead you to this old-day colonial British bungalow Surrounded by a birds’ sanctuary and a thick forest cover. Adisham Bungalow is an ideal place for you to enjoy nature during your holiday in Sri Lanka. Adisham Bungalow later converted to a monastery and now run and maintained by Benedictine Monks. Visitors can enjoy a scenic beauty around the monastery garden with lovely flower beds. Beautiful Orchids and Roses are planted on this garden. The upper side of the monastery is a forest and a bird sanctuary.
